Frequently asked questions about having your design knitted
Drawings & Designs
You can have almost any original drawing converted into a knitted scarf, blanket, or throw. Children's drawings, line illustrations, and compositions with multiple drawings also work beautifully.
We translate your drawing into a knitting pattern that is knitted in two colours. This gives your design a strong, graphic character. Clear line drawings with solid contours usually yield the best results.
Are you drawing on paper?
Then preferably use our drawing templates. Our templates are specially designed to the dimensions of our products, so your design fits perfectly within the size of the scarf or blanket. Sketch in pencil and trace your lines with a black fineliner for a clear result.
If you use coloured pencils, coloured areas will be converted into graphic texture effects in the knitting. Colours are not taken literally but translated into contrast and texture within the knitted pattern.
To ensure that your design is suitable for knitting, we recommend following our drawing tips and guidelines.
Always upload your own original drawing.
You can also have a digital drawing knitted into a scarf, blanket, or throw. Designs created in apps like Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Affinity, Procreate, or Canva are suitable.
For digital designs, you always work with our digital drawing templates. These contain the correct proportions and technical settings for knitting.
Digital designs, just like paper drawings, are translated into a knitting pattern in two colours. Black in your design is converted to the drawing colour and white to the background colour. This gives your design a strong, graphic effect in the knitted product.
Preferably work with clear shapes and sufficient contrast. Very fine details may be simplified in knitwear and thus may be lost.
For the best result, follow the step-by-step instructions in our digital drawing templates.
Always upload your own original design file.
Download and print the drawing template first. Our drawing templates are made in the correct proportions for our scarves and blankets, so the design fits perfectly with each knitted product.
Also print the drawing tips (PDF), which we have specially developed for children.
Your child can draw with a pencil or directly with a black fine-tip pen or a marker. For the best result, we recommend tracing a pencil sketch with a black fine-tip pen. Clear, strong lines provide the best effect when the drawing is converted into a knitting pattern.
If your child colours certain parts of the drawing, these will be translated into two colours when knitting, creating graphic texture effects with a graphic character.
Younger children may need some help with drawing. Make it a creative moment together, for example, a small family workshop at the kitchen table.
Afterwards, you can choose the colours of the yarn together. During personalisation, you can also add the name of your young artist. This will be subtly knitted into the hem of the product, a lasting reminder of who created the design.

The simplest way to work with existing drawings is to create your design digitally. You can use apps like Canva or Adobe Photoshop and place photos or scans of your drawings into our digital knitting template.
Our digital knitting template has the correct proportions and technical settings for knitting, so your design fits perfectly within the final product.
Please note that the resolution of knitted products is relatively low compared to print. In knitting, each pixel equals one stitch. When you scale your drawing to the size of our template, very small details may be simplified or lost, depending on the quality and complexity of the original drawing.
For the best results, we recommend working with clear lines and sufficient contrast when preparing your design.
Yes, you can add text to your design.
If you are using handwritten text, make sure it is large, clear, and written with sufficient contrast. Small letters or fine details can become difficult to read when the design is scaled down and converted into a knitting pattern.
For digital designs, we recommend using our recommended digital fonts. You can download these and apply them within our digital character template. These fonts are optimized for knitting and provide the best results. Always place text horizontally or vertically. Diagonal or very detailed letters may be simplified in the knit fabric.
The sizes in the product description are guidelines and may vary by a few centimeters. Since each item is specially knitted to order, the final size may slightly vary depending on the design and the chosen colours.
Designs with many small details or frequently changing colours may turn out slightly larger due to the extra structure in the knitted fabric.
Yes, that is possible. Always upload your scanned drawing in the highest possible resolution, so that details remain clearly visible.
Make sure the scan is sharp, straight, and well-lit.
The better the quality of your file, the more beautiful the final result in the knitted design.
Photos & Blanket with photo
With our knitted Photo Blanket (180 × 100 cm), you can have almost any personal photo transformed into a jacquard knitting pattern. Think of a portrait of yourself, your family, a beloved pet, or a special moment you want to cherish.
It is not a print on fabric, but a photo that is truly translated into textile and knitted stitch by stitch into a soft, high-quality throw blanket.
Each Photo Blanket is custom-made and specially knitted for you in our knitting workshop in Slovenia.
For a Photo Blanket, we use three colours. The light and dark parts of your photo are carefully translated into three contrasting colours. This creates a stylish, graphic image in the knitted fabric. We have prepared a number of carefully curated color combinations of three colours that work well together and ensure the best result. Do you have specific colour preferences? Feel free to send us a message, and we will explore the possibilities together.
The final result is not a print, but a photo that is truly knitted into the fabric. This gives the blanket a warm, timeless appearance with a subtle texture that you only see in knitted textiles.
With this technique, the blanket is not reversible like our products with drawings. The back shows a fine jacquard pattern with a beautiful texture in which all three colours are visible.
Why our products are different
A Relooped by You scarf, blanket, or throw is not a standard product. Each item is custom-made from your own drawing or photo and specially knitted for you.
Our products are not printed, but truly knitted in a pattern with yarns in contrasting colours. This makes the process more intensive and artisanal than a regular print on fabric.
Creating a personalised knitted product involves several steps:
• As soon as we receive your design, we carefully convert it into a technical knitting file. Sometimes we recommend small optimisations to ensure the best result.
• Next, we develop a unique knitting pattern. This is prepared for the knitting machine, where your chosen colours are set and the product is knitted stitch by stitch.
• After knitting, the product is washed and steamed to make it extra soft and comfortable.
Our knitted products are made in a knitwear studio in Slovenia, within the EU. We work with high-quality yarns made from organic cotton and produce in small batches. Behind each design is craftsmanship, time, and attention. You can see and feel this in the final result.

Care & Sustainability
Our knitted products are made from GOTS-certified organic cotton and designed to last.
To keep your scarf, blanket, or throw looking nice, we recommend:
• Washing at 30 °C (delicate wash cycle)
• Do not bleach
• Do not tumble dry
• Iron on a low temperature with steam after washing to restore softness
Do you have a stubborn stain? First treat the stain with, for example, a laundry bar soap, and then wash the product if necessary at a maximum of 40 °C.
By treating your product with care, the knit will remain soft, retain its shape, and continue to be pleasant to wear or snuggle under for years.
Rights & Use of Images
You may use images found online or offline as inspiration for your own drawing. Always ensure that you upload a completely original design of which you are the creator.
Do you still want to use an existing image? Then that is only allowed when it concerns royalty-free images and you are sure that commercial use is permitted.
We encourage the use of your own creativity and original work. This makes your knitted design personal and unique.
Unfortunately, we cannot produce designs that are based on existing characters, logos, or images that are protected by copyright or trademark.
Characters from games, movies, TV series, comics, or well-known brands are almost always covered by copyright or trademark law. Without an official license, these cannot be used to create personalised Relooped by You products.
The customer is responsible for uploading a design that does not infringe on copyrights or trademark rights. If we determine that a submitted design violates rights, we reserve the right to cancel the order.
Feel free to be inspired by what you like, but always ensure that you upload a completely original design.
