The Beginning of Relooped: From Drawing to Children's Scarf
Our creative journey began with a simple idea: what if we turn a child's drawing into a unique children's scarf or blanket? Exactly one year ago, we organized an initial experimental workshop to test the concept of Relooped by You. It feels like yesterday that we started this creative journey, curious whether our idea could become reality. The idea of turning children's drawings into knitted accessories had been in our minds for a while, but before we fully got started, we had to try whether it would work in reality. There were a number of essential questions that needed to be answered before we could bring Relooped to life. The most important question was: would children find it exciting to want to become designers themselves? Would they be patient enough to finish their drawings? And technically: could we get or make good photos of their artworks to turn them into knitting patterns? Last but not least: would they be happy with their final Relooped creations (and would their parents also appreciate this experience)?
The Power of Creativity in Our Workshop
The perfect opportunity for this creative experiment presented itself during a lovely weekend on a tourist farm with friends and their children. This resulted in a fantastic group of young artists from 3 to 14 years old. What more could we wish for? These young talents surprised us with their enthusiasm for the project and transformed the small house on top of the hill into a nest of creativity, where they worked on their drawings for hours.
The Experiment: Transforming Drawings into Knitting Patterns
The next phase was production. We took photos of all the drawings with different smartphones to get varied results. Here, we took into account the different drawing materials they used, from (colored) pencils to thin and thick markers. With a touch of Photoshop magic, we turned these photos into suitable knitting patterns. Then we sent the knitting patterns to the knitting factory to have them knitted.
The Result: Real Children's Scarves and Pride and Joy
It was contagious to see the joy and pride of the young artists when they saw their designs come to life as real scarves. These smiles were the best inspiration for us to continue with our dream project. Our experimental workshop not only confirmed the viability of our concept but also sparked a passion to bring Relooped into the world.
One Year Later: Reflection on Our Creative Journey
Now that we are celebrating this one-year anniversary, we look back on how far we have come. From that magical weekend on the farm to the launch of Relooped by You, it has been an incredible journey full of creativity, innovation, and joy. We are incredibly grateful to our young artists, whose enthusiasm and curiosity have fueled our determination to make this project a reality.
